Every Child Can Read And Write

We learn by looking, hearing and speaking. We try things out, analyse them and store the new information in our memory.

Our sensory organs are “doors to our mind”.

It is so easy to teach someone with all the “doors” wide open, but it is so hard to learn, when most of them are shut.

Academic Pathway’s unique approach

can be described in 3 steps:

Phonological Awareness for Literacy At Academic Pathways

The Academic Pathways program was established in 2005 and is based on phonological and morphological principles as well as behavioural techniques. The program delivers sequential, multisensory instructions that have strong connections between speaking, writing and reading.

Objective

• Form practical neural links between particular phonemes (letter units) and writing movement.
• Stock the long-term memory with a working sample of units of the English language
• Retrieve these units in a written or spoken form.

Learning to do this is, amazingly, a lot of fun for students of all ages.

Program Structure

The program is organised into three levels. The first level focuses on learning the phonemes and blending them in a written form. The second level focuses on spelling rules and reading comprehension. The third level is for those students who are interested in extending their language skills and learning the craft of Debating and Creative Writing.

Eligbility

This program is recommended for children of all ages with specific reading or learning difficulties. The program is also recommended for children with a significant language delay or disorder, moderate to severe auditory impairment, intellectual disability, and behavioural problems.

Children participate in an assessment before they commence the program in order to confirm that it will suit their needs. We endeavour to accommodate your first preference for the day and time of your sessions, but this not always possible due to other existing bookings.
